Well, here I am. As if living in Second Life wasn't enough, now I have to write about it, too. Born in SL on May 16, 2007, and I hit the ground running. Running away from...? Running to...?

Pondering "First" life...gosh...some say "Real" life. But wait...Second Life IS real. That's a pretty complex notion to wrap your head around, when you're a newborn in SL, that what you experience is very real. After all, we may have 5 (or more) senses, but they all are filtered through our brain. So life, in any medium, happens in the mind, does it not? The impact SL has had on me...well, I'll never be the same again. I said that when I got my first PC in 1994 and a colleague handed me a 5 1/4 inch floppy disk and used foreign terms like "telnet" and "BBS". That loud obnoxious dialup modem sound (4400 baud rate, I believe was the norm then *snorts*) became my theme song. I said it again in 1997 when, after a fairly long sabbatical from the online world, brought me a new computer and onto the Internet (woot, 56K people!). That BBS I had made so many friends on, was now a website. I jumped back in, found my old cyber buddies, made new ones. It's a site that encourages off-line meetups, so it's not a strange idea for me to hop in the car and meet folks, in the flesh, that I've befriended online.

Second Life is, to me, just a fancier version of all that. But, of course, SL is WAY MORE than a "game". That's such a frigging misnomer it ain't even funny. I am not here to try to make non-residents understand what SL *is*. Join the damn thing and see for yourself. Just be prepared to undergo a myriad of emotions, sensations, and be open to rethinking and expanding your "normal" thinking patterns, mores, yada yada yada.

SL in one word..."unstifled". The kind of intellectual, artistic, sexual, creative, and interpersonal freedom gained from hanging out in a "virtual" (another sucky and improper word) world is both amazing and terrifying, awe-inspiring and intimidating, empowering and withering.

This blog, I suppose, is an outlet for me to examine myself even more. And to share myself. And to hash out some things floating around my head.

I love to write, because I am always thinking, analyzing, pondering, and wondering. Whether it's a short story, a few photos, a poem I've composed, or just spitting out thoughts on cyber-paper. This blog is primarily *for* me, but I welcome you all to Dolci's Vita...because it really is a very sweet life, in every world.
